South Bend Social Notes and Farm Talks
South Bend residents visit friends and relatives across Vandergrift and Apollo areas. Families attend church events, illnesses are reported, and local farmers update on orchards and tractor purchases. A Fordson tractor delivery marks a highlight as gas drilling crews visit Towns Send No. 2 site and Holy Communion is observed at the Lutheran church.

Marchand Ralph Wineberg Buys Mule Team For Replacement
Ralph Wineberg purchased a team of mules from John Hoover of Loop after influenza killed the previous team. Tom Gilpatrick rented his property here and moved to Juneau to start a blacksmith shop and home this summer. G. M. Wingert and Wineberg unloaded lime, and they dragged the state road there last week, improving it by about sixty percent. H. L. Woods moved his family into the T. M. Gilpatrick home last week. Mrs. Annie Moot hosted a high school party with an old time taffy pull and sandwiches, plus games, with many local youths in attendance.
