Resolutions of Respect for Rev P Snyder Departing
At the General Council meeting of the Brush valley Lutheran charge held February 28 1874 the council accepted the resignation of Rev P Snyder and adopted resolutions praising his faithful pulpit work, church extension efforts and moral character. The council expressed confidence in his integrity and prayed for his future success and recommended him to his new charge and community. The resolutions were to be published in the Lutheran Observer and county papers.

Providence April 1 The Rhode Island state election produced light turnout with no Democratic nomination for state officers. Governor Henry Howard was re elected to 12 269 votes over Lyman Pearce. Lieutenant Governor Charles C Vanzandt won 7 679 to 6 512 for Wm Sayles. Prohibition candidate Joshua M Addeman re elected Secretary of State and Willard Sayles Attorney General with little opposition. General Treasurer Samuel Clark won by a large majority over Prohibition candidate Henry Goff. Legislature results lean Republican though senatorial outcome unclear until June General Assembly trial. In Providence assembly contests centered on Burnside supporters versus others. likely Burnside allies hold most Assembly seats while Senate and four Representatives remained undecided.
