Man Burns Blazes in Gas Pump Explosion Heroically Dives Pond
Gabriel L. Watterson of near Willet, employed at the Willet pumping station, was severely burned when an explosion while connecting a gas line at the Kelly farm ignited his clothing. He leaped into a duck pond to extinguish the flames, saving his life though his face was badly burned. Local manager William Bartley and a Pittsburg nurse aided at the Kelly home. Fire destroyed the derrick and pump house, causing several hundred dollars in damage, but Watterson is expected to recover with his sight intact.

New Railroad Yards to Be Extensive and Modern
The Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburgh Railway plans a $50,000 yard expansion at Creekside on the Indiana branch. Seven miles of track and 190,000 cubic yards of earth will form five tracks and a 1.5 mile yard to handle coal trains. About 125 men and two 7-ton shovels will work three months. Parallel electric plant upgrades at Rossiter and plans for a Paull plant reflect a shift to electric mine operations.
