County registry assessors report 18 524 voters with 3290 unregistered. Republicans top party with 5890 enrollees, Democrats 1754, Washington 1408, Prohibitionists 779, Socialists 433. Over 6 000 voters pledged to GOP, 1 500 more than all other parties combined.
Indiana town braces for a busy building season with nearly a dozen modern dwellings planned for summer. Architects and contractors say new houses and apartments will ease the local housing shortage and lower rents. Planned homes include projects by Dr. G. B. Simpson on Ninth Street, Alex M. Stewart on Vinegar Hill, W. Moorhead on School Street, Miss Mabel Evans at Fifth and Church, T. R. Smith on North Sixth, and James Blair in Blairton. Under construction already are David Blair at Sixth and Church and Michael Bennett at Sixth and School, plus apartments in the U. S. Cunningham building at Philadelphia and Tenth.
Nomination papers circulate for Hon M C Watson and Attorney Wil mers Wood as possible nominees. Watson represented the county in the last Legislature and seeks re election. Wood, a former county school teacher turned lawyer at the county seat, also pursues the nomination.

The Progress will begin a five installment history of the Republican Party by George Row of Lorain Ohio. Row, a former Indiana resident and former editor of the Indiana Register, recounts early party days and Indiana county’s role. The first chapter appears next week with subsequent installments in five consecutive issues. Readers may place orders within a week.

An attempted break in occurred Monday night as someone tried to enter Sloan Bros store through a rear basement window. No entry was gained and no injuries were reported. Local police investigating the incident.
Prohibition era court actions dominate this week's docket with jurors levying a $10 verdict for Andrew Dick against Brushvalley township supervisors over road damage to a horse. Frank Chambetti and wife of Tunnelton plead guilty to liquor violations. husband fined $500 and 90 days in workhouse. wife paroled on costs. Mrs Kamentson, Creekside hostess, pleads guilty to liquor selling and is paroled on costs with restraint on future sales. Court directs charges against Creekside constable for possible removal. Various penalties and paroles issued for other liquor law breaches including Royal Hanna brewery agent, and Helgian Club activities in Wattsville. A Hunterdon Reformatory sentence looms for Breth in a related case. Dr F McCracken reports a ewe with 19 lambs in 10 years.
The death of Manner, proprietor of the National Wotol on Fast Philadelphia street, after five weeks of blood poison, follows an accident on March 2 when his thumb was torn off entering a cellar trap door. He was born January 6, 1874 in Grant township and later ran a store in Glen Campbell, then farmed in Grant township. He moved to Indiana and founded the National Stores, and was a member of the Elks and Moose. He leaves a widow and son David, with many siblings. Funeral services were held, with burial at Oakland cemetery.

The Madlana Normal school winter term closes Thursday and the second annual alumni banquet will be held Friday evening at the Monongahela House in Pittsburg. Toastmaster J Wood Clark will preside. Speakers include Ament Leonard Waller Sutton and others representing the alumni. W M Davidson and Samuel Hamilton among speakers.

Reverend R J Roberts pastor of Marion Center Presbyterian Church delivered an illustrated lecture Sunday outlining Sabbath school lessons from the previous three months. The talk offered a visual recap and insights into the series and its spiritual impact.
The Indiana County Road Supervisors Association organized at a county supervisors’ meeting in the courthouse. Ivory district was represented and about a hundred round builders attended. An illustrated talk on earth roads and maintenance was given by a State Highway Department representative. Officers elected: President J W Woodend, vice presidents T S Ned and C M Cramer, secretary W W Hopkins, treasurer Harry Prowler. The next meeting is set for the first Tuesday in October.
Almost 100 county farmers gathered at the Court House on Saturday afternoon to discuss creating the Indiana County Farm Bureau. J M Lewis chaired the session. W H Hibshman outlined bureau aims and the appointment of a State College trained county agricultural agent. County commissioners may fund 1400 annually. a ten-member citizen committee will gauge farmer sentiment and a future meeting is planned. Also noted, Rev J F King will resign after 44 years as Indiana Baptist Church pastor. Home Talent rehearsals prepare for The Little Citadel to aid Indiana baseball.
Mrs. Lidia Rose of Heilwood celebrated her 70th birthday with friends who gathered Friday spent the day with her and enjoyed a noon dinner. Revs Miller and Jennings to conduct Cherryhill Brethren Church services each evening starting Saturday through the week. John Richards, 15, son of Mr and Mrs Albert Richards of White township, was painfully injured when kicked in the state by a mule.
