Coal Industry Salvation Conference Set in Spangler

Central Pennsylvania coal industry leaders, railroads, and government officials will attend a coal and unemployment conference in Spangler on Monday August 18. The meeting aims to address transport costs, alleged rate discrimination favoring West Virginia, and seek possible remedies through the Interstate Commerce Commission.

King Wins Golf Play-Off at Country Club Par

Joseph J. King won the Parnell Handicap play-off at the Country Club with a gross 88 and a 66 net after a 22 handicap, edging George H. Musk who carded 60 net. The Club Championship begins July 1 with 18 hole matches. finals on July 4 are 86 holes. Matches will be scheduled by players, with best tomorrow including Wells versus Denny St Clair or Pierce versus Carnahan.

Missing child search expands by night in forested area

A missing girl who wandered from a filling station prompted a rapid search. Local National Guard units joined the effort after midnight, a bloodhound was brought in, and Pilot Roy Ahearn conducted an aerial search to locate the youngster in a conspicuous dress.

A. J. Stahura of Indiana captured a ten dollar gold piece for the best window display lasting six weeks featuring Golden Urn Circle Cattack and the Dilworth line. Indiana County Handy Service Stores carry Wingold and Elmwood fruits and vegetables along with the Dilworth Flour and Circle Coffees. Dilworth's Little German Band performed in Indiana to applause and the company promotes public service in the Pittsburgh district as a long standing member of the Community Builders Association.

Home Burns Wife Crash Injures Three In Blairsville Area

A two vehicle crash on the William Penn Highway five miles east of Blairsville injured three people. Beerman of Pittsburgh and his son sustained minor injuries while his wife suffered severe scalp lacerations and bruises. Beerman said brakes overheated on a westbound car triggering the stop and subsequent collision with eastbound traffic. The Beerman car traveled west after treatment and the incident occurred at 8:30 p.m. in the Blairsville area.

LaCoste Tennis Star Weds Premier Golfer In Paris

In Paris at Sainte Clothilde Church at noon, Simone Thiona De La Chaume France's premier woman golfer married René Lacoste international tennis star. Guests included Suzanne Lenglen and Georges Carpentier while Cochet flew in from Wimbledon. The ceremony followed a period of frequent play for the bride and leaves Lacoste's tennis career in question.

Auto crash injures Ontario party near Brae Breeze Park

Canadians Hart Roy Irvin and daughter Gladys from Ontario sustained severe injuries after their car crashed head on into a tree on the B. P. Highway near Brae Breeze Park while en route to Echo. Mrs Irvin and Gladys were admitted to Punxsutawney Hospital. Mr Irvin suffered facial lacerations and a broken jaw. Bert L. Collins survived a 20 foot fall from a ladder at 546 Locust Street and was treated at Indiana Hospital for head and body injuries with stable condition. Patrolman Neal and Corporal Hildebrand investigated the incidents.
