High Court May Hear Plea to Halt Polens Executio
Pittsburgh June 20 A. Lindolin Cohen said he will appeal to the Supreme Court for an order halting the execution of John G. Polens former Warren County justice of the peace convicted in the Metro Seminak slaying. Cohen contends the guilty plea was coerced and seeks withdrawal of the plea based on promised leniency and advice of counsel. Judge B A Arird sentenced Polens and Joe Senauskas to death, while Mrs Seminuk the widow received 1 1/2 to 3 years reformatory sentence after a jury conviction. Senauskas asked for a new trial and to withdraw his guilty plea. State alleges a love triangle and hire of Senauskas to kill the innkeeper.

Two Brothers Drown in Clarion River
In Clarion on June 29 a homemade sailboat capsized in the Clarion River. Albert Brinker, 18, and Dean Brinker, 16, drowned. Albert reportedly sacrificed himself to save his brother, who could not swim and dragged the older boy under 35-foot depths. The tragedy occurred above the dam a half mile north of Clarion, near where Reed B. Keck drowned in his car a week earlier. Searchers spent about four and a half hours locating Albert’s body as over 1,000 onlookers watched from the riverbanks.
