The Republican State Committee meeting drew about 5,000 attendees as WM. S. Ware was chosen as national committeeman. Plans were outlined for the 1934 campaign efforts and party organization.
In Selinsgrove Pa leaders of the dominant party gather for preliminaries of the annual reorganization drive. Tribute to William S Vare as national committeeman to replace the late ay Gooke of Philadelphia. Mail ballots assure his election. Key speakers include U S Senator Reed Everett Sanders Mrs Worthington Scranton and Gen Edward Martin with 5000 expected at Rolling Green park.
Ebensburg area gains status as a future aviation hub after the federal action designating nearby Keystone airport as a key intermediate landing field on the national trans continental air line. Four land tracts totaling 360 acres including the present airport were sold by Aty. P. J. Little to Pennsylvania for one dollar, with government transfer planned and funds about 19 000 to 19 600. Major grading and a fencing system to be installed, hangar construction and improvements planned by Keystone Airport, Inc.
John D. Rockefeller Jr. learned the Mt. Pleasant North Tarrytown line runs through his house, placing much of the building in North Tarrytown. He says North Tarrytown taxed the entire structure and he has paid about $8,000 since 1927, and he directed lawyers to try to recover those taxes.
The State Emergency Relief Board sent 5 790 068 22 to county relief agencies to aid jobless and destitute Pennsylvanians. About 5 400 000 for food and the rest for administration. An endowment grant of 550 000 for milk. July allocations by county include Allegheny 1 008 448 and York 366 792 with many others listed.
A Prohibition Rally is set for 8 p m at the First Methodist Church Indiana to discuss the 18th amendment future. Dr Q O B Poulson of Huntington Pa, secretary for the Prohibition Conference of Pennsylvania, will speak as correction issued for a prior notice. States shift toward wets as dry forces push plans for Pennsylvania ahead of November 7.
The large community market, opened March 13, faced abolition today after the state emergency board approved the county relief agency's recommendation. Governor Pinchot announced the market will be discontinued at the board's pleasure, with the county adopting a uniform food distribution plan. Only three Pennsylvania markets remain in York, Meadville, and Williamsport.
State police conducted a raid in ClonSBUIrg area resulting in 12 men being held for court. Several suspects were released on bond while money, books and loggers were confiscated according to officers.
Washington returns indicate higher wages and more textile jobs as the textile trade code is revised under Brig. Gen. Hugh S. Johnson. Otto H. Kahn of Kahn Loeb and Co testimony before the Senate banking inquiry describes a $117,584 loss from selling stock to his daughter on December 30, 1980, then reacquiring it three months later. He says the transfer was part of a plan to fund a trust for his daughter, with dates disputed by officials and a later internal revenue review raising questions about the timing.
In Pittsburgh on June 29 the Rev. Dr. W B Anderson of Philadelphia was elected moderator of the General Assembly of the United Presbyterian Church on the second ballot over Rev. W P Aiken of Omaha. The vote margin was one on the first ballot. A colorful ceremony marked the denomination’s 75th anniversary at Syria Mosque, where the United Presbyterian faith began in Pittsburgh.

Senator William E. Borah of Idaho is recovering satisfactorily from a serious operation performed in a Baltimore hospital. He is expected to be confined to bed for two weeks.
County Detective Harry D. Koozer and Homer City Chief A. I. Campbell arrested three Waterbury men George Fairman Leo Yarkuskie and Bert Blystone for felonious entry and larceny in a Sunday robbery at James L. Zack's Home Center township near Homer City The trio admitted stealing three rifles and a shotgun with concealment money found in a rifle stock not recovered at the time of arrest guns recovered from Fairman and Yarkuskie homes They entered Zack's home via a rear door and pleaded guilty at a preliminary hearing.
Local civil leaders in Leechburg on June 29 campaigned for a new bridge to replace the unsafe structure over the Kiski River. They said the state would fund the entire coal of construction and noted outlines of the proposed span have been accepted by the State Highway Department.

Pittsburgh June 24 Senator James J Coyne a Republican leader was indicted by a federal grand jury for conspiracy to violate the election laws. Eight other Republican leaders including Albertina John Verona and Patrick O Milley were named in the indictments, linked to irregularities in the November 1932 congressional election in Pittsburgh.
A noodle supper and festival will be held Tuesday night July 4 at the U P Church in Shelocta. Proceeds benefit the church.
Benjamin Gray of Central Coal Associates says a unified code for the bituminous coal industry is near. The plan, representing about 150 million tons or half of U S output, sets hours of work and minimum wages under Johnson's recovery act, with 42 to 36 hours a week and 40 to 48 cents per hour.
In Greensburg and Youngwood district youths Joseph Gillin aged 10 and Clarence Gilmore aged 12 were seriously burned when a gasoline torch set burlap sacks ablaze under a porch. Firemen were alerted by nearby youths who escaped. Both boys are expected to recover.

Roscoe Fatty Arbuckle famed 300 pound film comedian dies at his New York hotel from heart ailment after a brief comeback. He left a wife Addie McPhail and had recently completed a movie at Astoria studios. Arbuckle rose to fame after a scandal and was once among the era’s top earners.
