A Japanese bayonet forced Capt Henry S Jernigan of Hopkinsville Ky from a sidewalk during a Peiping martial demonstration as 3,000 Japanese troops marched past foreign embassies to a field. Jernigan, a US cavalry captain attached to the embassy as a language student, escaped injury by slashing the weapon aside. The force then received a regimental flag from Emperor Hirohito as officers urged greater patriotism and valor.

Two School Boys Drown In Erie Bay Incident
Clarence W Staab a nine year old from Strangford Pa Erie drowned in Evie bay near dusk after diving from a pier while carrying a fish pole. Coast guards recovered the body an hour later. Coroner Dr W G Stroble said the boy lost control of the trolley when the pole snared in wheels.
