How seven convicts escaped Brushy Mountain prison

Windrock chase ends with captured fugitive in Windrock Tenn

In Windrock Tennessee a two day manhunt for escaped killer James Earl Ray and three others disrupted a mining area. Residents watched as police helicopters bloodhounds and German shepherds scoured Brushy Mountain area before Ray was captured near Windrock Early morning hours. The false alarm overnight did not derail the search which intensified after sightings and roadblocks reported by prison officials and state police. Emergency crews patrolled the hills while residents stayed alert and watched late night television.
