Old Bridge Collapse in Muscatine Iowa
A 200-foot bridge over the Mississippi River at Muscatine Iowa collapsed early today dropping an unmanned Coca Cola truck into the water. No casualties were reported. Driver Jim Haynes of Streator Illinois heard the bridge rattle as he crossed and fled to safety before the span gave way. The girders may have been struck by another truck moments earlier. The bridge linked Muscatine to the Illinois side on U S Highway 92.
