Washington December 14 The Truman Administration seeks Congress action to greatly expand the Federal Old Age and Survivor Insurance system. Secretary Tobin told a Senate House subcommittee that benefits and eligibility should fit retired workers and dependents, supporting a $100 monthly pension idea and a gradual rise in the minimum wage to one dollar an hour. He noted current averages under $500 yearly for a retired worker and spouse and criticized the House measure though he praised progress. The House bill would extend coverage to about 11 million more workers and adjust tax bases and rates.

A freight train wreck at Edri yesterday afternoon at 1 15 p m wrecked 19 cars. No one was injured. A diesel engine hauling freight is said to have caused the wreck but the engine was not derailed. Truck Car Crash Near Penn View on Route 22
