Media police hold two men in sex slaying case
Two men were jailed overnight for further questioning in the brutal slaying of 63 year old Mrs Elizabeth Gibson. Acting District Attorney Henry Sweney said strong indications point to a sex murder. Investigators seek two other men with prior attacks on women. Gibson was killed Wednesday night. her body found under a back porch steps. A four and one half foot iron pipe was used in the attack. The suspect tossed the pipe and Gibson pocketbook into a field after the crime. Neighbors Mr and Mrs Edward Smedley heard no disturbance.

Former Punxsylawia Resident Raymond E Davis Dies
Raymond E. Davis, a former Punxsylawney resident, died in a Youngstown sanitarium Sunday at age 42. He was the son of the late Mrs. Margaret Davis of Jenks Avenue and leaves three children Phyllis Raymond Jr. and Richard at home. One brother Leonard remains in Indiana. Cremation followed services at a Youngstown funeral home.

Indiana's fair closes with live stock, farm machinery and a grand cavalcade. A 1:30 p.m. start featured harness races and a 10 act vaudeville finale headlined by Captain Billy Sell and his trained lions and the Hanneford Family. Nine teams competed in the heavyweight horse pulling contest before about seven thousand in attendance. J. C. Rhea's Worthington team pulled 400 pounds a full distance and won $100. Second went to George Porter of Eighty Four, Pa. Third to John G. Harr of Claysville. Fourth to Waddell and Coleman of Indiana R. D. Fifth to J. H. Ecktes of Mariona. Sixth to Chester G. Kelly of Sarver. Seventh to Ted Lukavich of West Sunbury. Eighth to Jim Good of Dayton. Ninth to J. W. Loughry and Sons of Marion Center. The dynamometer car was run by Chuck Burge with judges Stockdale, Crago and Johnston. Linemen were Fowler and Holt. In the 2:14 trot, Valo Aucrey broke its track record by two seconds.
