William Workman son of Dr Samuel Workman was shot on the Bellevue camp grounds near Independence in Washington County near the West Virginia line. Police said the revolver fired into his stomach during a scuffle with rowdies after crowds were ordered off the grounds. He was taken to his home after an ambulance was summoned from Wellsburg. Workman, a grandson of a Methodist preacher, had completed academy work and was to enter Washington and Jefferson College as a freshman this fall.
Philadelphia Aug 28 There will be no banquet connected with the capitol dedication ceremonies. The committee on dedication cited lack of a suitable Harrisburg hall and President Roosevelt's absence as reasons. Ambassadors and ministers from foreign countries will be invited instead.
Corry police report Retta Aldine Son, 19, of Jamestown, ingested tar or poison in a room and died within minutes. Washington, Jamestown, and nearby observers described the events as part of a possible attempted murder or confinement case. The investigation continues with family and local officials involved.
Bedford county for congress a ticket in the Nineteenth district is formed by Whaley Bedired and Clark with Golinty and Balley not participating. Tropp a Republican backed by Lincoln and Damon party endorsements, protests against a conference at this time.
A Nine year old murder confession emerges as Jol Colemyn, once living as an outcast in Binghamton and Towanda, admits killing her one year old daughter during a revival meeting. She was then directed to a Pentecostal Rescue mission by Recorder Reberis. Police alerted by oral authorities follow the case. Two girls drown in Great Lake area.
