Concorde set a commercial airliner record by flying 3390 miles from Washington Dulles to Paris Orly in 3 hours 33 minutes. The 1400 mph delta wing jet carried 32 passengers, reached 58000 feet, and flew Mach 2 for part of the route amid a largely routine service with a single hitchhiker spider found in the cockpit.

Free Calls At Heathrow After Fuse Fault
Hundreds of air travelers at London Heathrow were able to call friends for free after a blown fuse in the exchange equipment left the pay phones unmetered. A spokesman for the state run phone system called it an unusual fault and said calls were not being charged.
