Supervisor seeks probe of Nixon land valuation dispute
Orange County Supervisor Robert Battin urged the Assessment Appeals Board to investigate the valuation of President Nixon’s San Clemente seaside estate. Battin argued the assessed value of 1.37 million dollars is far too low and should reflect 26 million. He also called for taxing government improvements of about 703 thousand dollars placed on the property by the Secret Service. The board will meet Monday to consider the demand, with support from Frank Manzo and Robert Hasteiler. Otto Christenson offered no comment.
