Safe boating classes start at Hill Junior High and Millikan High
Outdoor page notes boating is a priority with safe boating courses run by Long Beach Power Squadron and Coast Guard Auxiliary units. Two sessions begin next week with one accelerated two-night per week course at Hill Junior High and a 13 week single-night-per-week course at Millikan High, each including a cruise aboard a skippered vessel.

The Newport Beach based ABYC attracts top figures including Peter A. Jung as over all chairman and Paul Merrill Jr. as ABYC chairman for a major world regatta. Visitors include Jorge Spengler and Jorg Schmail from West Germany, Brian Lewis of Australia, Brian Palireeman of Canada, Randy Smythe and Tim Taylore of Glendale, Paul Allen of Newport Beach. Spectator boats will crowd the 18 mile course offshore.
