Susan Aileen Lineberger of Los Altos and Jeffrey Michael Cowitz of Woodside wed Sunday in Atherton. Parents are Jim Lineberger and Mrs. Lineberger of Long Beach and Samuel Cowitz and Mrs. Cowitz. After Lake Tahoe trip they will reside in Los Altos Hills. Both graduates teach in Redwood Sequoia School District. The bride studied at Stanford and the groom at UC Berkeley. They plan a first home in North Carolina where the groom is serving with the military.
U S Army paratroopers participate in two weddings in Cypress and Wilmington. Jef frey Schilling and Victoria M Ciborowski wed at St Irenaeus and St Bartholomew Catholic Churches with family members as attendants. Couples plan Huntington Beach and Northern California honeymoons after graduation from Pacifica High and Cerritos College.
A reception in Seal Beach honors Long Beach couple Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Blane on their 50th wedding anniversary. Attending are their daughter in law and son David Sparks and Robert L Blanc of Lompoc. They wed Sept 7 1925 in Middletown Connecticut and have six grandchildren. Blane served as a chief warrant officer in the U S Navy retiring in 1945.
Jean Bier of Lakewood and Philip Arkangel wed in a Saturday ceremony at Liliuokalani Gardens Park Hilo Hawaii. The bride attended Jordan High School and Lakewood Beauty College and is a Bethel 109 Job’s Daughters member.
Thirteen artists will display Western themed paintings at Rancho Los Cerritos 4600 Virginia Road this Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Led by Andy Dagesta, the show features his works including Obvious Intentions and Gonna Rain Like Hell which won prizes in Death Valley events. Exhibit includes Lloyd Mitchell and others such as Dr. James Crafts Margaret Grierson Garry Crandle Mary Lehman Ralph Baker and Walter P Temple. Temple is a grandnephew of Don Juan Temple, builder of the ranch.
Barbara Goen daughter of Long Beach residents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Goen wed David Nemer son of Glendale residents Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Nemer. The bride, a UCLA BA and CSUN MA graduate, and the groom, an American University and Art Center College of Design attendee, celebrated at La Venta Inn Palos Verdes Estates.
Mary Murray of Long Beach received a VFW auxiliary silver plate for 30 049 hours of service at the Long Beach Veterans Administration Hospital where she volunteers five days weekly. She surpassed 30 000 hours by Dec 31 and aims for 32 000 as she prepares to attend the Fleet Reserve national convention in St. Louis. She is a past national auxiliary president and heads the Woman's City Club.
The North Long Beach Neighborhood Center hosts a 2 p.m. panel discussion at Carmelitos Community Hall on mental health continuing education nutrition and tenant landlord issues. Speakers include Larry Stone Beverly Mays James Hughes and a representative from the Women’s Community Resource Center with a Q and A after each talk.
