Hoover defends FBI amid critique at Princeton conference
J Edgar Hoover sent a letter to Princeton officials defending the FBI and praising reforms in humane treatment of suspects while acknowledging past mistakes. He declined to attend a two day nonpartisan look at the FBI’s structure and powers, saying the study could be biased against the bureau. The letter was distributed to conference participants as part of the Scholarly discussion hosted by Woodrow Wilson School.
