Domestic Energy Act Initiative challenges Nuclear Safeguards
In Sacramento Secretary of State March Fong Eu announced a new Domestic Energy Act Initiative that could override the Nuclear Safeguards Initiative if it passes with more votes in November 1976. The measure envisions immediate construction of a statewide power system, helium cooled reactors, offshore terminals, groundwater storage, and a Salton Sea stabilization plan, with UCLA engineering support for hydrogen transmission. Paul A Randolph of Santa Barbara is a principal backer. The initiative needs 312,404 valid signatures by March 15, 1976.
