Indian population grows much faster than U.S. rate
From a 170 census computation the American Indian population is rising four times as fast as the overall population. Health gains boosted life expectancy and cut infant mortality, with Indians more likely to describe themselves as Native American amid rising self-awareness and improved health. By 1967 life expectancy for Indians rose four years versus two for whites.
