Beach area concerns push hard on city finance report
City Councilman Wallace Edgerton warned Beach Area Concerned Citizens to watch the 13 year fiscal plan as the emergency report urges capital improvements, favoring development while de-emphasizing recreation and cultural amenities. BACC members pressed for city initiative funds and questioned allocations to Grand Prix, Queen Mary revitalization, and downtown marina studies.

Seal Beach approves Rossmoor project after tense meeting
Seal Beach City Council narrowly approved the controversial 2-entry apartment plan next to Rossmoor by a 2 vote after more than an hour of debate. Despite loud opposition from residents and criticism of developer influence, the decision included a call for an environmental impact report that failed on a 3-3 vote. The plan involves 2 entrances on Montecito Road near the Rossmoor Shopping Center by Sitewide Developers Inc., with about 30,000 dollars offered for park land. Council members Laszlo and others challenged the vote as pro developer and warned of reduced park creation in the city’s future. Firefighters and engineers received raises of 4 percent and 5 percent respectively, approved 1-0 with Kredell dissenting, after a delayed vote to allow more study.
