SAC Gets New TFX Bomber at Fort Worth Ceremony
The Strategic Air Command dedicated a new aircraft, described as the FR IIA variant of the TFX plane, with modified airframe and longer wingtips. Gen Holloway praised terrain-following radar enabling low level flight to penetrate adverse weather. The FR-11A and FBHLA bomber variants replace older models in SAC’s arsenal, with a ferry range around 4,000 miles.
