Cattlemen deny beef supply cut plan to boost price
ANCA executive vice president C W McMillan testified before a House subcommittee that cattlemen were urged to cut back because supply exceeded demand not to create a price-boosting shortage. He said an immediate reduction of at least 5 percent was urged in June The Cattleman. Virginia Knauer, Nixon adviser on consumer affairs, said price rises reflected demand outpacing supply and that while some meat prices fell in August, the trend may continue.
