Carter family abroad and local civic ties feature in weekend notes
Miss Lillian Carter travels with 250 Iowa residents aboard a Friendship Force flight from Des Moines to Dublin on November 1 as part of the Carter family led exchange program. In July, Miss William and 400 Atlanta residents toured England while Britons visited Georgia. President Carter hosts Sunday services at Camp David with Chaplain Col. Cecil D. Reed. The Carter family marks the president's birthday with a White House return by helicopter. Ex Miss America Rebecca Ann King, 1974 winner, plans a legal and possible political career after passing the Colorado bar and continuing law studies at the University of Denver. She notes a shift from modeling to law as her path.

Prince Mohammed Al Faisal of Saudi Arabia watched apricot ice chunk poured over 2.3 kilogram ice and toasted the Alaska iceberg arrival in Ames Iowa. He funded an estimated 7500 dollars to ship it from Portage Glacier to the International Conference on Iceberg Utilization. He aims to study transporting icebergs to Saudi Arabia to ease water shortages with a 100 million dollar project. Dr Paul Barcus collected samples for science and the largest chunk was placed in a punchbowl for the toast.
