Environmental activists win some and lose some in mixed election
Environmental groups reported mixed results last week as they backed congressional and gubernatorial candidates. The League of Conservation Voters distributed about 70,000 dollars in support to 16 candidates, nine won and one remained undecided. Fogbound sailboats escorted to Newport Harbor
About two dozen sail boats and a 35-foot cruiser faced dense fog offshore on Sunday afternoon. Five youths hijack bus in Compton and flee
