Two Long Beach area men died when two single engine Cessnas collided above the Long Beach Naval Station at 6 30 p m Witnesses described a midair explosion as one plane crashed into Seaside Way and Henry Ford Avenue The second plane landed in the surf near Bluff Park Pilot Dale Ratts 39 and passenger David Leighty 23 survived their sea landing The dead were Donald Wilkerson 42 of Seal Beach and Edward J Shaw 39 of Lakewood Both were General Telephone employees and licensed pilots The other survivor Thomas Steffey 28 of Long Beach was slightly injured

Judge Rules Out TV Family Hour Policy
