New sign up spot for summer jobs in Long Beach
Long Beach youth can apply for summer jobs at an added registration site opening today at Veterans Memorial Building 245 W Broadway. Ages 4 through 21 may sign up 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. through Friday, with jobs at YMCA Long Beach State Memorial Hospital DMV Boys Club and City Recreation among others. Applications also taken daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at East Long Beach Neighborhood Center Polytechnic High School North Long Beach Neighborhood Center Westside Neighborhood Center Youth Development Project Inc and Opportunities Industrialization Center.

Long Beach Death Identifies Woman Found In Alley
Police identified the beaten or strangled body of a young woman found in a Long Beach alley near the 1400 block of Finn Avenue as Terry Cohen, 21, of Santa Monica. The body appeared dumped in the alley after death elsewhere. In separate robberies, two bandits robbed a Long Beach restaurant manager of 7800 dollars as he carried receipts to the bank, and two gunmen robbed Hindquarter restaurant staff of about 2,000 dollars after forcing entry to the second floor office. Loot from two industrial plants in Carson was seized, including 12,609 pounds of steel plates and 4, etc.
