Quake experts urge phasedout dangerous buildings worldwide
A five day international conference on earthquakes led by Akul Aytun of Turkey urged phasing out hazardous structures and improving dam safety. The group warned quake related dam failures threaten communities and called for review agencies and earthquake resistant design standards. International aid coordination through UN NATO and Red Cross was also recommended.
