60 000 Carpenters in New Wage Pact
About 60 000 carpenters in the Southwest face a new five year wage agreement after overnight talks at the Ambassador hotel in Los Angeles. The tentative deal sets an hourly rate increase of 22.4 cents the first year and 15 cents the second year, with potential reopening after two years. Negotiations involved the Los Angeles Building Trades Council and contractor groups including the Associated General Contractors and Home Builders Institute.
