Mental Illness Discovery Aims to Predict Treatment Thresholds
A study by Dr Charles Shagass and Arthur L Jones shows sedation thresholds measured by sodium amytal and brain wave tests may separate neurotic from psychotic depression and predict response to electroconvulsive therapy. The research cites 1500 tests from McGill University and the University of Toronto and notes two Canadian psychiatrists presented findings at a major American psychiatric meeting.
