Long Beach Voters Reject Fluoridation in Primary
Long Beach voters rejected water fluoridation and the Barton Flats purchase proposal in Tuesday’s municipal primary, while approving a $5,900,000 Navy Landing project and re electing all eight incumbent city councilmen. Fluoridation lost about 14 to 1 as only 28 percent of 156,216 eligible voters cast ballots. The Barton Flats measure was defeated nearly 4 to 1. Navy Landing carried with about 2 to 1. In council races, incumbents dominated, with two high vote getters advancing in each district toward a June runoff.
