Safety standards could raise mower costs and trim market
A private Stanford Research Institute study for the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute warns that proposed mandatory safety standards could push mower prices up to 136 dollars for a 100 dollar gasoline rotary model, with overall price increases between 24 and 49 percent. Push mowers may rise 30 to 74 percent and riding mowers 19 to 30 percent.
