Pollution controls may cost US $105.2 billion in five years
EPA deputy administrator Robert Fri told California Manufacturers Association that five year cleaning costs total 105.2 billion, with water 88 billion air 23.7 billion and waste 49.5 billion. He warned pollution rules could cut GNP growth, raise unemployment, and shift jobs, while costs of living with pollution exceed 25 billion annually.
