Public Utility Tax Debate Highlights Edison Co Burden
LAC argues utility taxation shifts burden between property taxes and customer rates. Edison Co pays taxes to city county state, while city owned gas pays none. Edison’s 1958 tax 28 cents per dollar, $73 million total tax bill, $48 per meter served. LAC asserts government will extract taxes anyway.
