Freeman becomes second tenured professor fired in decade
Cal State San Bernardino psychology professor Dr James T Freeman was dismissed after an executive session vote of five trustees with one negative and two abstentions. Freeman faced charges of violating campus policy and education code by failing to perform mandatory classroom evaluations, falsifying reports, and pressuring nontenured instructors to allow evaluations without visits. Freeman appealed, calling his guilt “poor judgment” and urging a prior warning. The case follows a January consideration of Dr Ernest Eckert’s dismissal at Cal State Los Angeles.
