Pioneer Naval Reservists Back Hop 18000 Miles
A pioneering group of Naval Reservists from Los Alamitos Naval Air Station completed an 18,000 mile survey flight across the Pacific and Far East. VR772 tested reservists as fleet tactical support units during annual two weeks of active duty. The voyage included routine engine failure at Alameda and stops in Hong Kong Atsugi Yokosuka Yokohama and Tokyo with a late return to Barbers Point after crossing the International Date Line.
