Plows Free Snowbound Passengers on Stalled Illinois Train
A Milwaukee bound passenger train with 150 aboard was stuck in heavy snow near Green Bay as a late winter storm snarled four Chicago and North Western trains. Five diesel units pulled the No 216 free, delivering hot coffee and sandwiches to tired travelers. Additional trains with 185 passengers faced hours of delay north and west of Milwaukee, with Appleton Campbellsport and Randolph as noted locations. The Randolph train carried passengers from Minneapolis. The storm dumped over 12 inches of snow, worsening soggy conditions from a week earlier.
