Allied Fliers Mount Record Offensive in Korea

Allied air forces flew 1283 sorties, a Korea campaign high, blasting front line Reds and forcing a retreat toward northwest Korea. The Fifth Air Force logged 1108 sorties by fighters and bombers in a record for tactical strikes against Communists. Fighter-bombers damaged rail targets in 90 locations while Sabre jets protected them and knocked one MIG from a 20‑plane formation.
