Building Strike Talks Continue Monday in LA
In Los Angeles on June 27, Southland building contractors met to discuss proposed solutions to the Alameda strike by AFL Operating Engineers and Reinforcing Ironworkers. Federal mediator Ordean Rockey will assist next week as talks resume with Earl J. Brady noting unions signed over 200 contractors. The wage dispute centers on 23 to 29 cents versus 19 cents an hour, with about 12 counties affected and an estimated 250 million dollars in projects idled.
