Harbor Board rescinds order to close nine high gas wells
The Harbor Board of Harlin Commissioners reversed a June 4 directive ordering Wie Long Beach Oil Development Co to shut down nine high gas ratio wells. A department spokesman said the wells produce over 8000 cubic feet of gas per barrel of oil, while the California Oil Producers Conservation Committee recommends 3500 cubic feet per barrel. The decision to reopen allows an outside engineering firm to assess whether to close the wells as LEOD and harbor engineers dispute the action.
