Police officers report Anne Jeane Young of 15158 S Bellflower Blvd issued traffic citations for speeding and violations at Artesia and Paramount. She allegedly threatened officers with a 12 inch pipe after the stop and refused to sign the citations. Bail was set at 115 dollars.
Wage increases for 16 department heads and over 80 miscellaneous city workers were approved by the City Council. New salary ceilings apply to the city attorney and prosecutor offices, with a July 1 blanket $30 increases for all city employees and Aug. 1 effective dates for the new ranges across departments.

Coroner's jury clears Mrs. Ryan of the death of Leonard D. Ray Jr. after she testified she shot in self defense on her ranch near here. A crowd of about 125 witnessed the inquest as details of the confrontation emerged and the jurors returned an unjustifiable homicide verdict.
