Houghton Village units go on sale for veterans and public
The 464 unit Houghton Park Village, built as emergency housing in 1944, opens for public inspection Monday and sales begin June 30 for three days. Prices range from 160 to 265, limited to veterans of WWI II and Korea, then offered to the public. Units are sold as is and must be moved within 30 days of purchase approval.

City to fund half of subdivision drainage ditch cost
City Council approved paying half the $35,000 drainage ditch project for a new subdivision between Willow Street and Las Coyotes Diagonal west of Bellflower Boulevard. Ditch will be concrete lined with three underground structures. subdividers Cunningham and Brittain will dig and fence and cover half the cost.

Millett Joins Morgan and Co Long Beach Office
