Hijack of 100000 Gallons Stuns Wilmington Gas Lines
An accidental fire in Wilmington revealed a suspected gasoline hijack. Two men fled the burning South Avalon Blvd garage as flames exposed a secret 60 foot tunnel to an underground General Petroleum pipeline. Gasoline drained nightly to two trucks headed to service stations, totaling about 270000 gallons in nine months. One suspect possibly burned, deputies seek both men for questioning.

Korea Vets Dock At Seattle
In Seattle on June 9 the Gen. M. C. Meigs brought the largest return of Korea veterans, 3691, with a welcome home reception. Earlier the Simon B. Buckner carried 137 fighters, rails lined by families. A total of 3828 troops were processed for furloughs home at Fort Lawton.

Incendiary Fire Aboard Yugoslav Liner Sparks Escape
Nineteen people including a U S diplomat's son narrowly escaped a deadly incident when a fire erupted aboard a Yugoslav DC-3 flying from Frankfurt to Belgrade. Pilot Majcem Branivoj landed the craft in a North Bavarian field before gasoline tanks exploded, with 14 passengers and four crew members evacuating safely. George W Allen Jr aged 15, son of the U S ambassador to Yugoslavia, was among those aboard en route to visit his father.
