Navy Plane Crash Kills 10 Near Korea Coast
The Navy reports a four engine flying boat crashed in the Sea of Japan late Friday. Ten of 14 crew members are dead or missing, four survivors rescued by a U S destroyer. The crash occurred about 50 miles east of Kosong off Korea’s east coast before midnight Dec 26. Survivors were taken to Yokosuka base near Tokyo. Two were hospitalized, two scheduled to return to duty.

Four Burned Two Seriously As Gas Tank Explodes
A boy and his aunt were seriously burned Sunday night when an overturned butane tank exploded in a Wilmington garage. Injured were Robert D. Johnson and Mrs. Janet Marks. the boy’s mother Mrs. Gertrude Johnson suffered third degree burns. Neighbor Mrs. Joe Love ridge received bruises. Police said the explosion occurred at 1036 Alton Ave after the boy knocked over the tank. Firefighters reported little garage damage and possible fumes.
