Wreck Sighting Reported on Desert Peak
A Marine helicopter crew reported sighting bodies and wreckage on Mt. San Gorgonio after darkness prevented ground agents from climbing the steep slopes. The 4th Air Rescue Squadron from March AFB landed two men to aid and carry radios. A ground party planned to begin ascent at dawn to reach the wreckage of an Air Force transport with 18 aboard.

Air anti submarine squadron returns home from Korea
Air Anti Submarine Squadron VS 935 with 235 officers and men returns to Los Alamitos Naval Air Station after seven months in the Far East aboard the USS Sicily. The Sicily and its 1000 crew are due in Long Beach Saturday morning. Commander Francis V. Kenney leads Squadron 931, with about 50 members already owning homes in Long Beach. The unit will train at Los Alamitos after holiday leave. Squadron 931 has earlier served on the Sicily and Badoeng Strait, with duties in Atsugi Okinawa and Korean waters. The Sicily marked its third Korean tour, under Captain Almon E. Loomis of Coronado. Rear Admiral Ekstram praised this vigilance against undersea attacks.
