UNITED NATIONS New York Secretary General Trygve Lie warned a group of employees that they must decide by today whether to answer Senate committee questions on alleged Communist ties or face dismissal. A jurists panel advised firing those belonging to the Communist Party or any subversive organization, with a chance to plead their case before a review panel. The move follows firings suspensions and “special leave” for several staff after refusals to testify, and letters reportedly informed employees to abandon Fifth Amendment protections.
