MacArthur Reports 818,000 Chinese Menace in Korea
General MacArthur’s headquarters disclosed that 818,000 Chinese Communist troops face United Nations forces in Korea. Of these, 268,000 are in the battle line while the rest form a vast manpower reserve behind them. The report notes UN retreat from Pyongyang and Marine units maneuvering near the Chosin reservoir as turmoil grows.
