A jeweler Dan Richter paid 15200 in jewels and cash in a phony Miami kidnapping. The ransom was used to threaten and dupe him via a phone plot. The boy was claimed as hostage though none was in danger. Detectives pursued suspects who vanished before the payoff. See fake kidnapping story on page 2.
