Nader cites hazards from shipping materials on jetliners
Consumer advocate Ralph Nader and ACAP petition the Civil Aeronautics Board and FAA claiming 90 percent of scheduled flights carry hazardous materials and 25 percent carry radioactivity. They list biological agents and parathion among dangerous cargo and urge tighter air-shipment regulations while the NTSB reports 300 000 to 540 000 radioactive air shipments yearly following a Delta incident.
