Graduation Set by Head Start at Long Beach Housing Project
Graduation ceremonies for the North Long Beach Carmelitas Housing Project Head Start class will be held at 3 p.m. today at 5210 Via Wanda. The federally funded program, administered by the Community Improvement Teague, marks a milestone for local early education. Long Beach Naval Hospital leads in treating severe burns and bone disorders with pressurized chambers, while pioneering a regionalization concept in centralized management. Doctors rotate among hospital, dispensary, and ship annex, boosting morale and reducing patient travel. A new Navy program with George Washington University will allow technician trainees to earn up to 60 college credits, with plans to expand from lab techs to X-ray and cardiopulmonary staff, aiming for two years of college credit or an associate degree when they finish service.
